Los Cabos Big Game Charter Boat Classic

The anglers aboard Renegade Mike caught first-place wahoo and tuna on day three of the 2018 Los Cabos Big Game Charter Boat Classic.

The sixth annual Los Cabos Big Game Charter Boat Classic is the only free-entry fishing tournament on the Baja California Peninsula. A fleet of 100-plus boats set out from two ports — Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo — on day three of the event. Only Los Cabos charter boats are allowed to compete in the Charter Classic. Weather conditions were much calmer on Wednesday, the third day of fishing.

Tournament director Dan Jacobs called for lines-in promptly at 7 a.m. on radio channel 28. All boats are allowed to fish until lines out at 2:30 p.m. Often, the boats in San Jose Del Cabo came back to the docks earlier for half-day trips.

Several billfish releases were reported, with photos sent to tournament director Dan Jacobs. Anglers still have one week to send their billfish release photos to Jacobs to be eligible for tournament prizes.
